Inspired by street signs in Japan, the work Pfeil (LCR) explores a process of translation from left to right, in which meaning and legibility shift in the center. Between two distinct modes of reading, an ambiguous space emerges that links and deconstructs the motif at the same time.
The installation shows the sign in its LCR (left, center, right) construction alongside a print produced from it when laid out flat.
DEInspiriert von Straßenschildern in Japan thematisiert die Arbeit einen Prozess der Übersetzung von links nach rechts, in dem sich Bedeutung und Lesbarkeit im Centrum verschieben. Zwischen zwei klaren Lesarten entsteht ein mehrdeutiger Zwischenraum, der das Motiv zugleich verbindet und dekonstruiert.
Die Installation zeigt die LCR– (links, center, rechts) Konstruktion sowie den Abdruck ihres flach ausgelegten Zustands.
